I am trying to describe what the interpretation and intervention is in the psychoanalysis. Interpretation is the essence of the psychoanalysis. I reviewed many analysts’ ideas about the interpretation. They insisted what the interpretation was as they experienced and they thought. We need to open to listen to our patients, however, we need to have some guideline to interpret the patient’s material if we want to analyze and help the patient by the psychoanalytic way. I do not mean to have dogma here, but I do not want to float away with the patient’s material without analysis. In this way I think we need to keep in mind Dr. Fenichel’s guideline for interpreting the patient’s material. Only after doing this, among many new theories without loosing the right track, we can stay with the psychoanalysis for helping the patient deeply.
